photo study 2009
While traveling through the Yucatan I noticed the appearance of single plastic bottles stuck on poles along the nondescript straight jungle roads and realized that these were markers to unseen habitations hidden in the jungle. Markers that indicated to the homeowner where he lives. The next year I decided to document these unintentionally beautiful readymade sculptures with a straightforward series of photographs after observing a new development – as more people had moved in to inhabit the jungle area, the need for differentiation between neighbors was spurring innovative solutions, to say I live here: a yellow hose pipe; orange cones; oil cans and Pepsi crates; a little green plastic chair stuck up above the brush and the perfectly framed bottle.
